Jammu and Kashmir states ruling coalition partner, national conference has again shown its anti-national stand, by saying that the state of Jammu and Kashmir has not fully integrated with India, its accession with India is conditional.
The National Conference leader and MP Mehboob Beig was reacting to BJP leader Rajnath Singh’s a statement that, J&K is an integral part of the country and it is non-negotiable.
Rajnath Singh is leading a team six-member BJP MPs team on a four-day tour to JK that began on April 11 to understand the problems of the people and "prepare a road map" for the state.
Mehboob Beig continued his venomous statement and said that, "Rajnath Singh should study the history of Kashmir and the Kashmir issue, the accession of J&K with India was based on conditions and (the state) has not merged with the country which was acknowledged even by Home Minister P Chidambaram in Lok Sabha,"
He said autonomy is the only answer to the Kashmir problem but NC is ready to accept any other solution acceptable to people of all the three regions -- Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh.
These anti-national statements came a day after the first phase of panchayat elections in J&K, where Kashmiris, including women in large numbers, turned up at the polling booths, disregarding hard-line separatist leader Syed Ali Shah’s boycott call. 80% voters casted their votes in the polls, that are being held for the first time after 33 years in the state.
BJP team today visited the residence of slain religious and moderate separatist leader Maulana Showket Ahmed located at Lal Bazar in Srinagar. They met the bereaved family of Maulana Showket who was killed in a mine blast on Friday at Maisuma here.BJP leaders were accorded a warm welcome. Rajnath Singh assured the family that he will talk to PM Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on the issue of Ahmed’s murder.
